Dycker Feld Industrial Zone in Solingen to Pursue Increased Sustainability

The Solingen Economic Development agency has announced a new project aimed at making the Dycker Field industrial zone sustainable and attractive. This contiguous area, located in Solingen, Germany, is home to numerous companies that produce goods and services.

Given the dynamic changes in the industrial sector, including the impacts of digitization, changes in mobility requirements, energy and environmental technological requirements, and conditions, the agency recognizes the need for a collaborative approach to address these challenges.

An online survey was sent to approximately 100 companies in the Dycker Field industrial zone in February. The survey, which will run until June 2024, aims to gather insights and results that will be analysed and discussed at a meeting scheduled for April 12, 2024, at the premises of Ernst Krebs KG with all companies.

The focus of the project is threefold. Firstly, to create a sustainable industrial zone that benefits both the companies and the environment. Secondly, to make the zone more attractive for employees, thereby improving general well-being. Lastly, to connect companies with appropriate experts, such as departments of the city administration, including the city works of Solingen, apprentices, specialists, and Galvano-GURUs (experts in galvanotechnology).

The results and findings of the project will be prepared in the form of an experience guide, which will be made available to all companies in Solingen. This guide is expected to be compiled on June 26, 2024.

The Corona crisis and economically challenging times have prompted the Solingen Economic Development agency to engage in dialogue with companies in Solingen's largest contiguous industrial zone, the Dycker Field. This dialogue aims to achieve positive effects for the companies, infrastructures, nature, and environment in the Dycker Field industrial zone.

The industrial zone, like others, is subject to ongoing changes due to various factors, and the agency is seeking ways to work together with companies in the Dycker Field industrial zone to address these changes. The meeting and the subsequent project are part of this effort to create a more sustainable and attractive industrial zone for the future.
