Dubai: With the festive season of Eid Al Adha approaching, Dubai Municipality has sprung into action to ensure a top-notch customer experience at its official abattoirs. This year, over 80,000 heads of livestock are expected to pass through the markets during the holiday week.

The main goal of this campaign is to deliver a safe, hygienic, and hassle-free experience for residents performing the ritual sacrifice, following the highest standards of public health and food safety. Dubai's network of four official abattoirs in Al Qusais, Al Quoz, Al Lisaili, and Hatta are poised and prepared to handle sacrificial requests swiftly and efficiently.

Essential Safety Measures

Key components of this endeavor comprise rigorous pre- and post-slaughter veterinary checks by specialist vets, on-site, skilled butchers, and advanced sterilization systems. These precautions are implemented to secure public health, maintain meat safety, and minimize contamination risks.

Smart Applications Ease the Process

To facilitate the process even further, the municipality is promoting the use of smart applications. These apps enable residents to reserve, pay for, and receive sacrificial meat without having to visit livestock markets or abattoirs. Trained personnel will deliver the meat utilizing dedicated vehicles that comply with stringent hygiene standards.

Integrated Smart Systems and Modern Technology

Al Karrani, Director of the Public Health Services Department, highlighted the municipality's commitment to health and safety. He mentioned that each facility is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, trained personnel, and integrated smart systems that boost operational capacity while maintaining stringent food safety requirements.

Maintenance at Al Qusais Abattoir has already been completed in advance of the holiday to elevate service quality. During Eid, all abattoirs will operate from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Given the high volume of around 60,000 to 80,000 heads of livestock forecasted for these markets, Dubai Municipality had strategized a robust plan to manage the crowds and ensure smooth operations, especially on Arafat Day and the primary days of Eid.

Inspection teams will be deployed to monitor livestock quality, regulate traffic flow, and maintain order. Residents are warned of the health and environmental risks associated with unauthorized slaughtering outside official facilities. To ensure the safety and cleanliness of sacrifices, the public is advised to utilize the municipality's smart services and approved abattoirs.
