Kickin' It Old School: Penny Sitler's Farewell from Draper's Marketing Throne

After a whopping 40 years in the industry, Penny Sitler, the marketing whiz at Draper, is hanging up her boots! It all started back in 1978 when she joined them as a summer intern. Fast forward to 1982, and she was Draper Shade & Screen Co., Inc.'s first salaried female employee.

Penny's tenure was marked by numerous achievements. She built the marketing program from the ground up, creating an in-house marketing team, launching web and social media initiatives, and introducing tons of new products. In 2017, she orchestrated a complete company rebrand, shaking things up with a snazzy new logo and a sleeker website.

Known as a pioneer in the AV industry, Penny once chaired the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA) Women's Council. In 2013, she was awarded a Women in InfoComm Award, recognizing her significant contributions and exceptional leadership in the AV sector. She was also inducted into the System Contractors News AV Hall of Fame in 2017!

"Penny's been a game-changer during her years at Draper, both professionally and personally, for many," says Draper president Chris Broome. "She's not just a marketing legend but also a mentor to several women in the company and the AV industry. Her presence will be sorely missed, but we're just as sad to see our good friend leave."

Stepping into Penny's mighty shoes is Mike Feeney. Mike's been a part of Draper's marketing department since 2006, holding various positions like graphic designer, photographer, video producer, web designer, and even web team lead!

"Mike's extensive experience across various marketing verticals at Draper is gonna be a game-changer," says Broome. "Given his existing knowledge base and the respect he commands among the team, he's already off to a flying start, aiming to preserve Penny's legacy of excellence."

The marketing department has undergone a slight revamp. To promote seamless communication and collaboration, the team has been divided into two: The Design & Messaging Team, led by Amy Bradway, a Draper veteran of 14 years, and the Technical and Product Team, helmed by Josh Shopp, who's been with the company since 2014.
