In the world of luxury and classic cars, one event stands out as a shining beacon of elegance and sophistication - the International Concours of Elegance (The ICE or I.C.E.). Founded in 2019, this prestigious automotive event has grown in size and influence, becoming a global showcase for exceptional classic and vintage cars.

The ICE's origins can be traced back to early 20th-century European aristocratic gatherings, where the finest automobiles were showcased and judged on design, condition, and provenance. The ICE carries on this tradition but with a distinct focus on a high level of curation, international participation, and the celebration of automotive artistry and heritage.

Rosie Paterson, the Digital Content Director & Travel Editor for a leading platform, has been a key figure in the ICE's success. She joined the platform's team in July 2014 and has since coordinated numerous events, including the platform's own 125 birthday celebrations. Her expertise extends beyond the platform, as she has written for esteemed publications like Mr & Mrs Smith and The Gentleman's Journal.

In 2022, Rosie edited the platform's special Queen's Platinum Jubilee issue, and she has also chaired live discussions on topics such as the London property market, sustainability, and luxury travel trends. This year, she was even invited to judge a travel media award.

The ICE is not just about the cars. The event has seen an increase in the number of dogs in attendance over the years, with bandana-wearing corgis and labradoodles becoming a common sight. These four-legged friends have been observed attempting to eat as much snow as possible, adding a playful touch to the otherwise elegant event.

One of the most memorable moments in the ICE's history took place in 1985, when a group of Brits competed on the Cresta Run, a famous toboggan track in St Moritz, using vintage Bentleys to commemorate its centenary. This spirit of competition and celebration continues to this day, with the ICE being the birthplace of modern-day skeleton racing.

As the ICE continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to its core values of authenticity, elegance, and historical significance. The event is now held in various locations, such as Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle in the UK, and the Valletta in Malta. New regional Concours of Elegance, like the Concours of Elegance Germany inaugurated in 2024, show the continuing influence and expansion of the ICE's model by bringing together rare, historically significant vehicles in prestigious settings, maintaining the tradition of celebrating automotive legends with detailed judging and awards.

For car enthusiasts and luxury lovers alike, the International Concours of Elegance is a must-attend event that combines cultural heritage with automobile preservation and celebration, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
