Diversified crafts from four nations gracefully displayed at the Friendship Market in Zell, promoted by a message of peace
In the picturesque town of Zell, nestled in the Unzhurst district, a unique gathering is set to take place. Thomas Huber, the miller from Zell, is inviting everyone to the Zeller Mill on September 27 for a German-French Friendship Market.
The market is more than just a local event. It's a celebration of unity and solidarity, as producers from France, Italy, Switzerland, and Bavaria will be joining their counterparts from Zell and the surrounding regions.
At the heart of the market is the International Bread Baking Festival, with baking taking place in the large bakery of the Zeller Mill and a 'Swiss Military Bakery'. The Swiss military bakery, decommissioned decades ago, is being repurposed for this special occasion in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Among the local businesses participating is Biomarkt Decker from Großweier. Thomas Huber, known for his peace-loving nature, plans to break bread with salt as a symbol of solidarity and against the war.
The Aspichhof, managed by Ewald Glaser, is a partner of the nature park and will be represented at the market with wine, cheese, and Maultaschen. Antoine from the Alsatian Münster Valley is suspected of making the best Münster cheese and has been invited to the market.
Georg Falk from Ottersweier will present his sunflower seed at the market, while Seifermanns farm, Andreas Höß from Ottersweier, Erika from Hildmannsfelder Dorfladen, Schafraffenland from Balzhofen, Uli Kohler from Kappelrodeck, Baden Hanfmanufaktur, and Georg Falk from Ottersweier are also participating.
Roadworks in Zell's main street are now complete, ensuring unrestricted access for market-goers. The market is open from 10 am to 4 pm.
Ewald Glaser and Thomas Huber aim to generate enthusiasm and joy in their products at the fair. They believe that as a region, they find more political support when they join forces and fight together for the preservation of agriculture and craft businesses.
The friendship market aims to strengthen awareness of the essential role that agriculture, food craftsmanship, and gastronomy play in our daily lives. Ewald Glaser and Thomas Huber, along with other local businesses, have come together in the 'Arbeitsgemeinschaft Landwirtschaft und Handwerk' to support the preservation of these industries.
Join us at the German-French Friendship Market in Zell on September 27. It's a chance to celebrate unity, support local businesses, and appreciate the artisanal products that make our region so special.
