18-Year-Old Entrepreneur Opens Used Lego Store in Freiberg's City Center

In a former electronics store in Freiberg's city center, residents will find a new attraction: a Lego store run by Max Fritz, an 18-year-old soon-to-be high school graduate who's the operator of Fritz Brickz, the first business for used Lego in the Ludwigsburg district.

The store's window displays "Star Wars" edition of Lego and other building sets of the internationally renowned brand. Inside, Max Fritz is stocking shelves, showcasing his collection of used Lego pieces, bought online, which he now sells at more affordable prices.

Customers appreciate not only the lower prices but also the opportunity to examine the Brickz pieces firsthand. "Here, everyone can touch and check everything," says Fritz.

According to the young entrepreneur, Lego is a popular toy among the young and old, but the Danish product can be expensive. Fritz's business idea taps into this demand for cost-effective, complete, and well-maintained Lego sets.

Max Fritz relies on his knowledge of the Lego market and personal advice due to the prevalent online scams. He emphasizes that Lego is the only toy brand with constant growth, referencing the broad variety of topics and the quality of the bricks.

Fritz's parents, who run a business selling organic food in Freiberg, have supported his Lego store ambition since the beginning. They donated the space from the former electronics store for a possible second branch, which inspired Fritz to open his store.

Since graduating from high school, Max Fritz has dedicated himself to managing both the online and brick-and-mortar Brickz business. He enjoys the social interaction with customers and believes this to be the perfect time for such a project.

The store will be open from Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 7 pm, and on Freiberg's market days, from 9 am to 4 pm. Despite operating alone in the store, Max Fritz remains optimistic about the challenge, citing his experience in school and self-study to manage the bookkeeping and online business during quieter hours.

Though Max Fritz's Fritz Brickz is the first of its kind in the area, there are similar stores elsewhere—specifically in Oberhausen. Despite this, he is proud to offer a unique shopping experience in Freiberg.

The store's diverse product range includes Lego building sets, showcasing the 'Star Wars' edition among others, reflecting Max Fritz's ambition to cater to various age groups and interests belonging to the 'lifestyle' category. Fritz's business, Fritz Brickz, offers used Lego pieces at more affordable prices, appealing not only to his customers' wallets but also their concern for the environment by reusing and recycling, aligning with the 'home-and-garden' philosophy. Furthermore, Max Fritz's endeavor, being a business focused on used Lego, strategically targets the growing demand for cost-effective yet well-maintained Lego sets in the 'finance' sector.
