Council for Assistance to the Disabled Population
The Disability Council of the City of Augsburg, an independent and autonomous interest representation, is gearing up for a new term from 2025 to 2029. The council, which operates on a voluntary basis and transcends party and denominational boundaries, is committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
Claudia Nickl, who has been leading the council since 2012 and serves as the city's disability commissioner, was re-elected as chairperson in the meeting on June 24, 2022. Claudia also leads the Transportation and Mobility Expertise Area. Igor Dordevic and Petra Wengert serve as her deputies.
Bernd Schneider leads the Communication Expertise Area, Nicole Oehler heads the Social Services and Assistance Expertise Area, Carmen Sturm is in charge of the Building and Housing Expertise Area, Marion Wöhrl leads the Work and Career Expertise Area, and Heike Rabas guides the School, Education, Culture, and Sports Expertise Area.
The Disability Council advises the city council and administration on all matters of inclusion. It also informs citizens and serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration. The council operates six expertise areas: Building and Housing, Transportation and Mobility, Work and Career, Communication, Social Services and Assistance, and School, Education, Culture, and Sports.
The newly elected Disability Council will hold a full-day retreat in October to set priorities for the upcoming term and prioritize upcoming topics.
