Construction approval granted for Augustiner's Inn building project

In a recent development, the Edith Haberland Wagner Foundation has received a building permit for an Augustinian guesthouse in the Old Castle in Bayreuth. This announcement was made by Mayor Thomas Ebersberger during a meeting of the urban development committee.

The foundation purchased the right wing of the Old Castle in 2021 with the intention of creating a guesthouse. However, a legal security in the land register is required for the proposed relocation of the entrance, which would involve parts of the courtyard, as the Free State of Bavaria is the owner of the courtyard where the entrance is located.

The city administration has given the green light for the building permit, but it is subject to conditions. One of the conditions is the conclusive clarification and implementation of access to the guesthouse before it goes into operation. The city of Bayreuth has proposed an alternative solution to address the entrance issue, aiming to keep the existing entrance at the corner of Ehrenhof/Maximilianstraße.

The builder plans to relocate the entrance with a staircase leading to the courtyard, but the ultimate solution for the entrance issue will be decided through mutual agreement in the coming weeks. It's important to note that no specific details about the timeline for the construction work or the opening of the guesthouse were provided.

Located in the heart of Bayreuth, the guesthouse project has cleared another hurdle in its development. Despite the ongoing discussions about the entrance issue, construction work on the guesthouse can begin, but there are still some detailed issues to be clarified.

The city of Bayreuth's proposed solution does not involve building on the courtyard, ensuring the preservation of the historical site. The Edith Haberland Wagner Foundation's Augustinian guesthouse project continues to progress, with the hope of providing a new addition to Bayreuth's rich cultural landscape in the near future.
