Collaborative Exhibition: Showcase from Latvia and Lithuania at the Baltic Pavilion
Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, the all-new World Expo, is set to open its doors on April 13, 2025, and conclude on October 13, 2025. This six-month event promises a unique blend of architectural marvels, sustainable innovations, and a global stage where nations showcase culture and futuristic concepts.
At the heart of the Expo site stands the Grand Roof Ring, a 2-kilometer circular structure representing a fusion of traditional Japanese "nuki" joinery and modern engineering. Visitors can walk atop it for panoramic views of the Expo and Osaka Bay, while the base features seasonal flower gardens symbolising Japan's four seasons.
Another notable attraction is the Panasonic Group Pavilion, located in the East Gate Zone, built with recycled materials like iron, copper, and glass from electronic goods. It offers immersive experiences using technologies involving light, sound, and wind to stimulate the five senses, aimed especially at children as they explore imagination and potential in a naturalistic setting.
The Japan Pavilion, meanwhile, emphasises sustainability and circularity, nicknamed the pavilion that “eats trash,” reflecting the Expo’s mission of connecting past, present, and future through innovative design and environmental awareness.
The Expo also serves as a grand cultural festival, with pavilions from countries worldwide. For instance, the Nordic Pavilion features giant wooden designs evoking cultural heritage, while others integrate colourful, playful, or digital-art-enhanced designs.
In the Baltic pavilion, visitors are greeted by Barabi-chan, a porcini-inspired mascot, which showcases the beauty of the Baltic region's forests. The pavilion also cooperates with Lithuania, as both countries share their cultural heritage. The Wall of the Future, an interactive display within the Baltic pavilion's spatial arts, briefly displays visitor messages on its touchscreen.
Lithuania marks its national day on Sunday, July 6, at the Expo National Day Hall, while Latvia celebrates its national day on Tuesday, May 20, at the same venue.
The main facilities, national pavilions, and attractions of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai are open from 9:00 to 21:00 daily, with the overall site remaining open until 22:00, with some shops and restaurants extending hours slightly beyond that.
