City initiative introduces a lineup of workshops focusing on concreting the waste prevention idea in our urban setting.
In a significant step towards a greener future, the city of Essen has announced a series of workshops aimed at developing a waste reduction concept. The workshops, open to all interested parties, will take place at Essen Town Hall and are being organised under the patronage of Mayor Thomas Kufen.
The workshops, which are a part of a thematic series, will involve intensive small group work, evaluating, discussing, and assessing measures. Each workshop will focus on a central theme derived from the kick-off event and online survey results. The five workshops scheduled are public administration as a role model, resource cycles, packaging waste, food waste, and waste reduction in the construction sector.
The city portal, in collaboration with the Wuppertal Institute, Prognos AG, and INFA GmbH, is leading the development of this waste management concept. The inputs and results from the workshops will form the basis for further elaboration of the concept, which is expected to be available by mid-2026.
The press and communications office for the city portal can be contacted at presse@our website, and registration and further information on exact times can be found on the city portal website at: www.our website/avk. The registration deadline is Wednesday, 24 September.
Citizens, representatives of the economy and civil society, and municipal institutions are encouraged to participate in these workshops and actively contribute to shaping a more sustainable future. The city portal's website for press inquiries is www.our website/presse. For general enquiries, the service center for Essen can be reached at +49 201 88-0.
These workshops mark an important milestone in Essen's commitment to environmental sustainability. By engaging the public and experts from various fields, the city administration hopes to create a comprehensive and effective waste management concept that will benefit the city and its residents for years to come.
