Charity auction held for lion sculptures during Tollwood Festival
The Tollwood Summer Festival, themed "Inspiring Courage" this year, hosted a special auction of five wooden lion sculptures designed by artist Franz Jäger. The auction, which concluded on the final festival day, July 20th, raised a total of €3,900 for three Munich-based charities: Kartoffelkombinat, Munich Energy School, and Verein 10drei e.V.
The sculptures, crafted during the festival, represented strength and courage and were placed at the main entrance and the entrance at Ackermannstraße, corner Spiridon-Louis-Ring, for festival-goers to view.
Bidding on the lion sculptures commenced on July 4th, with the highest bidder at 12 pm on the last festival day taking the lions home. Other sculptures were bid between €250 and €400, with the father lion and one cub already reaching €500 as of July 17th.
