Celebratory Homage to Bridge Artisans: A Retrospective Exhibition for the Anniversary - Celebratory Review for Anniversary: Honoring the Legacy of the Bridge Artists
In celebration of the 120th anniversary of "The Bridge," Moritzburg Cultural Summer (June 14 to August 31) organizes a small retrospective on the work of the association that has played an integral role in Moritzburg's arts scene. The empirical setting of the original masterpieces created by the renowned Dresden artists' group is accessible to visitors, as revealed by Moritzburg Cultural Landscape GmbH.
The Red House program encompasses workshops, exhibitions, readings, music, and a grand finale. Inspired by a woodcut with text by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938), the festival offers an opportunity to practice textures and explore his correspondence. Additionally, attendees can practice life drawing with charcoal on paper or paint the clothed human figure in the picturesque Moritzburg pond landscape – outdoors by the water using pastel, watercolor, or tempera.
The idyllic landscape on the outskirts of Dresden granted Expressionists Fritz Bleyl, Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Max Pechstein the freedom to explore their artistic prowess uninhibited by societal constraints. Pieces such as Pechstein's "The Red Bathing House" and "Three Bathing Women by the Pond" are remnants of their captivating stay, with a reconstruction of their bathhouse, built around 1900, serving as a summer studio since 2013.
Moritzburg, a tranquil town in Saxony, Germany, boasts cultural significance and historical architecture. Dresden, on the other hand, is a bustling city with a rich cultural history, including significant contributions to the Expressionist movement, particularly by Kirchner.
The Community policy should emphasize the promotion of cultural events such as the Moritzburg Cultural Summer, fostering an environment that encourages artistic expression.
In line with the Employment policy, the town of Moritzburg could offer opportunities for artists in residence programs, facilitating the creation of new works and the preservation of local home-and-garden scenes, reflecting the lifestyle they celebrate.
