Business Shuts Down: The Final Chapter for Horst

The Damn Good Vier Vogel Bar on Louisenstraße, just a stone's throw from Rothenburger, is shuttering its doors. It all started almost nine smokin' years ago when the beer-slingers behind Vier-Vogel-Pils hooked up with restaurateur Stefan Voigt to open this joint. The aim was to create a chill hideaway for bubblin' regional brews with a sizzlin' South American twist. "For a few soggy years, it was all good, mate," spills the head chef Dajana. The winter months saw the place buzzin' with folks. However, the idea of a suburban speakeasy-style cultural cellar didn't quite take off. Dajana calls it the party cellar. Despite costing them a pretty penny, even after a fancy-schmancy renovation, the bass was still grumbling through the walls, pissin' off a neighbor.

"So, Horst was just limping along," shrugs Dajana. Summers were the real pain in the arse, especially when Mother Nature decided to keep the rain at bay like she did recently. "Nobody wanted to huddle up inside then," frowns Georg Bauerfeind of Vier Vogel Pils. "If we could've had our way, ol' Horst would've been our local waterin' hole, our preferred perch," he admit-chers.

New player, new game

In the end, the concept stopped makin' cents, so they decided along with partner Voigt to call time on the bar. Voigt: "We had a smokin' hot offer, someone's eager to take over the bar. We couldn't refuse."

Bauerfeind's bummed, too, 'cause it means no more tavern flowin' with Vier-Vogel-Pils on tap. But they're already hatchin' plans and keepin' their fingers crossed for a fresh flood of draft beer. The VVP, the raddler, and the booze-free alternatives are still servin' up cold ones in various Neustadt dives.

Farewells are a-comin' for Dajana and co-head Jenny, who'll be focusin' more on Luden from now on. You still got until the end of this month to grab a frosty Vier-Vogel-Pils at Horst. Next weekend's agenda includes the Farewell-Youth-Festival, and the 28th promises a big ol' bash.

After the dust settles and the last beer's been drained, there'll likely be some renovations. The rumor mill's churnin' about a rock bar potentially movin' in[1]. Feel free to follow the passion pit on www.instagram.com/horstviervogelbar.

Before Horst was Horst

As September 14, 2016, rolled around, the four-bird bar had already been serving up suds for a few years. But the journey began long before that. It was a tale of beer lovers joinin' forces, and the rest is history.

Today's microbrew joints faced closure

After the Commerzbank took control of the local bank, the shutter goin' down of a nearby branch was just waitin' to happen. The postal canteen joined the list of closin' establishments, much to the disappointment of the local sparrows.

Enjoy this piece while it lasts, and stay posted for updates on the rock bar takeover[1].
