Brandenburg an der Havel Offers Leaf Disposal Containers Oct 27 - Dec 7

From 27 October to 7 December 2025, the city of Brandenburg an der Havel will provide containers for leaf disposal at various locations. This service aims to assist residents, particularly those responsible for street cleaning, in managing the high volume of leaves from street trees during autumn.

The containers will be available in different districts and suburbs, with each phase lasting two weeks. The phases are divided as follows: 27 October - 9 November, 10 November - 23 November, and 24 November - 7 December. While containers may not be available in the morning on the first day of each phase, they will be provided throughout the day.

Citizens are advised to use these containers for fallen greenery/leaves only. Foreign matter such as plastic bags, packaging, bulky waste, electrical waste, or other waste should not be placed in the containers to facilitate composting. The containers will be labeled with telephone numbers for reporting when a container is almost full, preventing unnecessary emptying of half-full containers. Residents are encouraged to call only when the container is nearly full.

In addition to these containers, classic disposal options are available, including self-composting, biotonne, recycling centers, and leaf bags for purchase. The responsibility for drainage and disposal of leaf waste primarily lies with the municipal waste management service APM GmbH and the Waterways and Shipping Office (WSA Spree-Havel). Local district authorities and the city's public order offices may also have relevant responsibilities.

The city of Brandenburg an der Havel has implemented this leaf disposal service to help residents manage autumn leaves effectively. By using the provided containers responsibly and following the guidelines, citizens can contribute to efficient waste management and support the composting process.
