Wiesbaden Wine Ball: A Night of Finest Wines and High-Profile Guests

Last Saturday, the Wine Ball, a celebration of fine wines, took place in the grandeur of Wiesbaden's Kurhaus. Distinguished guests from politics, business, and culture graced the event, partaking in the evening's selection of exquisite vintages.

At a pre-event reception held at the Nassau Hotel, Hessian Minister President Boris Rhein welcomed the attendees, expressing his delight at the presence of former Minister Presidents Roland Koch and Volker Bouffier. In a brief conversation with Wiesbaden lives!, Rhein revealed his affinity for white wines like Riesling and Pinot Blanc, though he is not averse to a good red wine.

Günther Berz-List, CEO of Schwälbchen, who has been a regular guest and sponsor for at least six years, shared his anticipation for turning the tables, switching from the rigorous six-day checking of milk quality to six hours of wine enjoyment. Berz-List prefers red or white wines depending on the season, while expressing the evening's French motto, La vie est belle, as C'est frais.

Wiesbaden's Economic Commissioner, Christiane Hinninger, who attended the ball for the second time, expressed her satisfaction with the event's presence in the city and admitted that Mainz might provide fierce competition for future locations.

Looking ahead, Germans continue to produce excellent red wines, and noted wineries such as Weingut Robert Weil in the Rheingau and Weingut J.J. Prüm in the Mosel offer outstanding Rieslings. Future wine-related events may be held in other prominent regions like Bad Kreuznach or Mittelrhein, adding to Germany's rich wine culture.
