Roman Days Return to Homburg-Schwarzenacker in September 2025
Get ready to step back in time as the Roman Museum in Homburg-Schwarzenacker prepares to host the much-anticipated Roman Days on the 13th and 14th of September, 2025.
This family-friendly event offers a unique journey through the Roman past, immersing visitors in the sights, sounds, and experiences of ancient Rome. The reconstructed Roman village will serve as the heart of ancient life during the Roman Days.
Visitors can expect a plethora of historical reenactments, cultural demonstrations, interactive activities, archaeological exhibitions, music and entertainment, and a variety of food and market stalls.
Authentic Roman legionnaires will demonstrate military drills, armor, and weaponry. Displays of Roman daily life will include crafts, cooking, and trade. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in Roman games, watch gladiator combat reenactments, and try on Roman costumes.
Archaeological exhibitions will showcase artifacts from the Roman settlement area in Schwarzenacker. The event will also feature performances of ancient Roman music and theatrical presentations. Traditional Roman-inspired cuisine and handcrafted goods will be available at food and market stalls.
The "Roman Innkeeper" Capitolinus will offer Roman specialties during the event. Gladiatorial fights, Roman trials, historical crafts, and traders in authentic attire will also be part of the event.
Children can participate in interactive activities as young archaeologists or craftsmen. The event will also include insights into Roman fashion, wall paintings, and cultural life during the time of the empire.
The Roman Days will take place from 9 am to 6 pm. A counterfeiter's arrest is promised to be a highlight of the 2025 Roman Days. Admission to the Roman Days is three euros, including guided tours and all performances.
A dedicated interactive zone is available for children to immerse themselves in the Roman world. Soup kitchens and grill stations are part of the culinary offerings at the Roman Days.
