A Warm Welcome: Almaty's Turksib District Receives Support from Local Businesses

In the heart of Almaty, the Turksib district is witnessing a remarkable transformation, thanks to the generosity and social responsibility of local businesses. These companies have stepped forward to improve the living conditions of low-income families, focusing on essential infrastructure like gas systems and affordable housing.

Ninety-nine percent of the private sector in the district heats their homes using blue fuel, with the remaining 1% mainly being low-income families. However, this statistic is changing, as these businesses are extending their support to families in need.

One such family, a large and disabled one, has recently received a significant boost. They are now set to move into a new, warm, and spacious home, thanks to the efforts of investor Baken Zhadyrasyn, who has been helping the Turksib district since 2016. The family had previously lived traditionally, chopping wood and lighting the stove for heating during the cold season.

In less than a month, investors connected the family's new home to blue fuel for free. This move not only provides them with a reliable and clean energy source but also frees the mother of the large family from the arduous chores associated with traditional heating methods.

The family is not alone in their new-found warmth. The number of houses connected to blue fuel in the Turksib district has increased by half this year, with a total of 918 houses with stove heating now registered in the district. This includes low-income families in the Turksib and Nurshakhan microdistricts, who have received free assistance for connecting to blue fuel.

The kindness and dedication of these businesses are making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. The families will celebrate upcoming holidays in their new homes, filled with warmth and hope, and the community continues to benefit from these heartwarming initiatives.

The Almaty TV channel reported on these developments, highlighting the positive impact that private sector involvement can have in social development and neighbourhood revitalization. However, there are still challenges to be addressed, with 459 houses in the district yet to be connected to blue fuel due to various reasons.

Despite these challenges, the spirit of community support remains strong in the Turksib district. The chairman of the microdistrict's elders, Dolkuntai Aubaikhriyev, has expressed a desire to help more families in need, demonstrating that the kindness and generosity of the community are essential in ensuring a brighter future for all.

The local businesses' focus in the Turksib district has expanded beyond infrastructure to include lifestyle enhancements, with investor Baken Zhadyrasyn providing a large, disabled family a new home equipped with modern heating systems, thereby forsaking traditional, labor-intensive heating methods.

This community-led movement in the district has not only optimized food preparation through the integration of homes with blue fuel but has also revolutionized the fashion-and-beauty and home-and-garden sectors. The local businesses are now partnering with fashion brands to offer affordable clothing and beauty products to the district's residents, and home improvement stores to provide necessary renovation materials for improving living conditions.
