Achievement attained anew
The demolition of the former AOK building in Hürth-Hermülheim is set to commence between late April and early May 2025, marking a significant milestone in the urban development project 'Luxury Lifeline'. This demolition will be carried out with maximum consideration for the environment and the local residents.
During the demolition process, materials such as gratings, metal elements, bricks, windows, benches, and even facade metal scrap will be collected separately for proper disposal and potential use in a research project involving RWTH Aachen University.
Potentially hazardous materials have already been identified and documented in advance to ensure safe demolition procedures. The demolition will proceed from top to bottom, including the top of the basement, using a combination of machinery and manual labour to minimise vibrations and keep disruptions to a minimum.
Remaining furniture and equipment will be offered for sale at a public auction before the demolition begins. The demolition will take place exclusively on the property itself, and no additional road closures are necessary beyond the existing closure of Luxemburger Straße.
The goal of this project management is to completely clear the site by the end of September 2025. Once the demolition is complete, a new building and a plaza with a water feature, plenty of greenery, and high-quality amenities will be constructed here.
The demolition is being handled by a local construction or demolition company, but the specific company responsible or potential contractor has not been publicly disclosed. The project is expected to contribute positively to the urban development of Hürth-Hermülheim and the overall success of the 'Luxury Lifeline' project.
