In the heart of the Swedish countryside, a unique home project has taken shape. Anna Starrén, a Swedish designer and photographer, along with her partner, have transformed a Mercedes Sprinter into a chic and functional camper van.

  1. The Perfect Base: Mercedes Sprinter Van The couple chose the Mercedes Sprinter for its reliability, size, and suitability for conversion into a mobile home.
  2. Designing a Modern Retreat Anna focused on a clean, modern, and minimalist Scandinavian design aesthetic, maximizing space efficiency while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. The layout typically included essential features such as a bed, kitchen, storage, and seating area.
  3. DIY Craftsmanship The duo undertook much of the conversion work themselves, from carpentry and insulation to electrical installation and interior finishing. This hands-on approach allowed them to customize the camper van based on their lifestyle and preferences.
  4. Natural Materials and Finishes They used natural and high-quality materials, such as light wood paneling, to create a warm and inviting cabin. The interior was designed to feel open and airy despite the limited space.
  5. Self-Sufficiency Features To enable off-grid living, the Sprinter camper likely includes solar panels, a water system, and battery storage to power lights, appliances, and other essentials.
  6. Clever Use of Space Clever storage solutions and multifunctional furniture were integral to the design, ensuring the van was practical for extended travel or living.

The exterior of the camper van is painted in a calm, neutral color to blend with the surrounding nature. The roof is equipped with solar panels for energy independence. A vintage cigar cabinet was repurposed for additional home storage in the camper van.

The camper van, serving as a little off-grid house on wheels, was transformed into a cozy Scandinavian-style interior. The interior design includes a minimalist aesthetic with natural materials, such as light wood paneling and muted colours. The camper van's walls are adorned with photographs taken by Anna Starrén, capturing the transformation process.

Anna Starrén’s home project is a great example of combining thoughtful design with practical craftsmanship to transform a commercial van into a personalized camper van perfectly suited for adventurous travel or minimalistic living.
